a visit to the pumpkin patch :: sunshine farms

Pumpkin patches growing big jack-o-lantern pumpkins in Germany are not common.  Sure, I could visit the commissary (grocery store on base) and choose a few from the large bin sitting outside, but a visit to a pumpkin patch is something that, for me, is part of the fun and memory making in bringing pumpkins home to carve and decorate with.  Over the past 5 years or so, especially in this area around so many American military bases, Halloween has really caught on and there is a demand for pumpkins large enough for carving.  I recently heard about a farm that has added larger pumpkins to their crop where they already grow pumpkins for eating.  Here are some snapshots from a recent afternoon when I ventured out with the boys to check the pumpkin patch out.
